After a long search for more mares in the UK we finally decided to go back to America. I had seen video of Stony and we took a trip out there in 2001 to see for ourselves. Stony had been used on cattle ranches sorting, penning, branding (the cowboys did the actual branding - Stony couldn't hold the branding iron - no fingers you see...) and had been placed in versatility ranch horse shows. She is bold, kind and very very comfortable and very trained. I rode her for a few months when we shipped her back and then she cut her back pastern a year after we had her and was very lame. The vet reported nothing too serious and we rested her. She was still slightly unsound so we bred her to Muffin and she produced a gorgeous carbon copy of herself in the form of Cookie Bar Kid who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident. Everyone was devastated. A great horse...... Onward!! We are riding out again now after the summer off. Graham is keen to get riding her too so watch for pics. Stony is foundation bred and registered. Loads more pics on Our Own Horses in Action page
